Garden centre gifts £650 worth of plants to the Martlets Hospice

Mayberry Garden Centre in Portslade has donated more than £650 worth of garden plants and gardening equipment to aid the Martlets Hospice in the major redesign of its gardens. Included is a silver birch tree to provide dappled shade, and a rose named Compassion, providing scent throughout the summer months. A North-east garden centre is celebrating being named one of the best in the UK. The Mains of Drum has been placed in the top three in Britain, after winning Best in Scotland late last year. Staff at the centre had been waiting nervously since the announcement of the Scotland-wide award for confirmation of the UK accolade. Gold found in stream at Cardwell Garden Centre

Tiny nuggets of gold have been found at the bottom of a stream running through a local garden centre. The amazing discovery has sparked a modern-day Klondike Gold Rush with dozens of would-be prospectors standing knee-deep in the water, panning for the precious metal. Haskins Garden Centre group has opened its Christmas department across all centres, due to high demand from customers. With centres in Dorset, Hampshire and West Sussex, the popular garden centre group experienced a higher number of visitors to the Christmas department last year than ever before. Kemps Plants garden centre expands with five-figure backing from HSBC

A garden centre in Bristol has opened a 4,300 sq ft extension after receiving a five-figure finance package from HSBC. Kemps Plants, which has banked with HSBC since 2003, has built the extension to meet consumer demand for its growing range of dry goods, including plant chemicals, garden furniture and BBQs.
