Burgon & Ball’s new Weed Slice has been awarded the prestigious, Garden Industry Manufacture’s Association (GIMA) 2015 Sword of Excellence.
During a glittering reception held at Celtic Manor Resort in Wales, the great and the good of the British garden industry met to recognise the achievements of some of its most innovative and proactive manufactures and marketers.
For a second successive year Burgon & Ball, one of the UK’s oldest manufactures of garden tools and accessories was awarded the top prize, the Sword of Excellence for its new Weed Slice.
Manufactured in Sheffield, the historical centre of British stainless steel production since the 17th century, the Weed Slice has proved to be both something of a technical and gardening miracle since its launch in September 2014.
The key to Weed Slice’s performance and popularity with gardener’s and judges alike, lies in its uniquely designed head. The sharpened front edge and point allows it to skim just under the surface of the soil, slicing through weeds. The two points on the back of the head cut through soil, meaning it can be used in both directions, cutting weeding time in half!
Burgon & Ball’s position as one of the UK’s most innovative and respected garden tool and accessory manufactures was further enhanced on the night when its ‘Love the Glove’ range was awarded first prize in both the Garden Clothing & Gift and Best Point of Sale Material categories.
Burgon & Ball’s extraordinary night of success continued with GIMA recognising Burgon & Ball’s reputation for innovative design and retailer support by awarding it another top prize in the Best Consumer Product Packaging category for its Essential Tools packaging.
