CHRIS Francis from Crowborough celebrated her retirement yesterday (June 25, 2013) with a special presentation after 25 years of service at a garden centre in the town.
Chris, who was a Garden Centre Assistant at Millbrook Garden Centre, started working at the centre on April 1, 1988 and her retirement presentation took place on June 25.
Tammy Woodhouse, Managing Director of Millbrook Garden Centre, which is located on Tubwell Lane in Jarvis Brook, said: “We are extremely grateful for the dedication shown during the past 25 years by Chris. We are very sad to see her retire. She was very popular with both staff and customers alike.
“On behalf of all the staff here at Millbrook Garden Centre, I would like to wish Chris all the best for the future.”
Chris was presented with a bouquet of flowers, a bottle of champagne and a photo montage of her time at the garden centre. Staff members also held a collection and presented Chris with Millbrook gift vouchers.
Chris explained: “I have really enjoyed working at the garden centre for the past 25 years and helping the customers who visit.
“There is a great team spirit and I have built up many long-term friendships with my colleagues. It is the people and customers that made it a lovely place to work.”
Millbrook Garden Centre is a family-run, independent garden centre. It provides customers with a wide range of quality plants, shrubs, trees, furniture, barbecues, gifts and food items.
Its friendly and knowledgeable staff are on-hand to give visitors help and advice on all gardening matters. Millbrook Garden Centre has its own nursery, where it grows a third of the plants sold at the centre in an attempt to reduce plant miles.
The Greencafé, which seats up to 120 customers, serves hot and cold drinks, snacks, homemade cakes, breakfasts, lunches, Sunday roasts and children’s meals using fresh, seasonal produce some of which is grown at the garden centre.
