Fire breaks out at Brookfields Garden Centre

Firefighters were called to a Mapperley garden centre in the early hours of Saturday (June 17) morning after a fire broke out in ‘a range of buildings’ on the site.

Crews from Arnold, Carlton and Stockhill stations were called to Brookfields Garden Centre, in Mapperley Plains, at 1.15am after reports of a fire.

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) said that the fire was in “a range of buildings for display and conservatory showrooms”.

The crews extinguished the blaze using two jets and two hose reels. They also used two breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera during the course of the incidents.

The NFRS spokeswoman said an LPG cylinder, which usually contain gas, was “removed and cooled to ambient temperature” by firefighters.

The incident was reported as over at 3.38am.

A spokesman for the garden centre said: “The garden centre itself is open as usual today. We are open from 9am until 5.30pm.”
