Stewart Group announce management changes

News has emerged that several management changes have occurred at the Stewart Group.

Group CEO Richard Butler – who joined the business in 2011 – left the Stewart Group in October and is yet to be replaced. Butler was part of a management buyin/buyout (BIMBO) that valued the business at £17m, and ECI invested £12m into the business.

While the Stewart Group looks to replace Butler, executive chairman Robin Pugh – who represents the private equity owners of Stewart, ECI – is running the company.

Moreover, UK sales manager Edward Cantle has also left the business. Long-time sales director Nigel Thompson decided to leave the business in December, but he will continue working for Stewarts as a consultant.

Finally, the Stewart Group has created a role for Gavin Wray. The former national account manager’s new title will be channel manager for garden centres.
